Flexera is an American computer software company based in Itasca, Illinois.

History[edit]

On 1 April 2008, Macrovision sold its software division to the Thoma Bravo investment fund.[1], which became Acresso Software. Macrovision subsequently changed its name to Rovi Corporation.

In October 2009, Acresso Software, Inc. became Flexera Software.[2] after a clash with a company of similar name.

Flexera acquired Australian based ManageSoft in 2010.[3] Managesoft was OSA (Open Software Associates), which itself came out of HP's Australian Software Organisation.

On July 19, 2011 Thoma Bravo sold a majority stake in Flexera Software LLC to Teachers' Private Capital, the private investment department of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. The transaction was finalized on October 3, 2011.

On September 26, 2018, Flexera acquired RightScale for an undisclosed amount.[4]

On June 5, 2019, Flexera acquired Asheville, NC based RISC Networks for an undisclosed amount.[5]

Hi everyone, I would just like to ask, 'What are the reasons for FLEXnet Publisher to be installed in someone's PC, without the owner of the PC having any knowledge that the software is in there?'. I am aware that in order for my system to work and run at its optimum for my requirements, Microsoft and other software companies would've have had to include software applications that have nothing to do with my day-to-day use of the programs I have in my PC, but are there act as a form of support to softwares already installed, such as for updating purposes; or as a form of controller or deterrent for incompatible applications.

Manager

However, I would like for someone to be able to provide me with some sort of viable explanation or reason as to why my PC would have a FLEXnet Publisher installed in my system? As an average End User of Personal Computers, I mainly use my PC for chatting with family, friends, and members of a Web Network I belong to. Our personal home Network consists of 3x Laptops using the same ISP; and the other 2x PCs are basically used by their respective owner's for similar personal use. In other words, according to what I have briefly read here regarding what FLEXnet Publisher is mainly used for, I am therefore somewhat perplexed as to 'Why there would be a need for it to be insalled in my PC, when from my understanding of it, what I use my PC for and the amount of volume I generate does not really justify the need for me having one?'. 'Is there other types of applications that FLEXnet Pulbisher would be used for, which would perhaps quench my curiousity with satisfaction?' And if so, 'Should it be located in the area I have included below?'

Flexera Software Flexnet Id Driver

I realise that your department must have to answer myriads of questions, and by the volume, but I would really appreciate it if someone could take the time to respond to my query. If this software application is an unnecessary item in my Hard Drive then I would very much like to unistall it, but as I've discovered the hard way, being 'click happy' with Delete, can lead to all sorts of migraine inducing havoc! Can someone also answer 'Why FLEXnet Publisher has a 'registrations - XML Doc' in the Folder?

Thank you for your kind consideration. Shirly.
