Windows 7 Embedded Repair Disk
I need to reinstall Windows 7 Embedded on my server but I'm not able to do so despite repeated tries. I tried booting up the server with the Windows Embedded 7 Setup ISO attached (using IPMI) and I've also tried running setup.exe in the CDROM after Windows has booted up. Both methods fail. Spore cracked version.
Windows Embedded 7 std will boot from USB without the complex procedures Wonko the Sane is referring you to. When building an image, select customization of the installation features and use Bootable USB Stack instead of the normal USB Stack. This will result in an installation that boots from USB, and does so on different machines. It depends on what you really want and mean with Repair Disk. If you want to run e.g. SystemRestore you can use any Win7 DVD/PE Envirionment and than run the Maintainance Tools like System Restore. With CMD Console this should also work with IBW PE envirionment. Or even just any Boot.wim.
The Startup Repair tool repairs Windows 7 by replacing important operating system files that might be damaged or missing. Startup Repair is an easy diagnostic and repair tool to use when Windows 7 fails to start properly and you can't use Safe Mode. It’s not hard to create a Windows 7 repair USB drive from ISO. However, this drive can’t be used for Windows versions that are different from the Windows version of the Windows ISO file. In other words, a Windows 7 recovery USB cannot be used to repair a computer running Windows 10 and a recovery USB from Windows 7 64bit is unable to repair Windows 7 32bit operating system. If you encountered with serious events like system crashes during using Windows 7 computer, you can use system repair disc to fix these problems or reinstall system. Thus, it is reasonable to create a system repair disc via Windows Backup and Restore utility at first. But in this method, the media can only be CD or DVD. In the first case, the server simply reboots by itself after I selected 'IBW' button. In the second case, the installer returns some files missing while installing.
I'm sure my Windows Embedded 7 Setup ISO is correct, because earlier on, I used IBW on the same ISO to install Windows Embedded 7 onto the server. Of course, the C drive has empty when I first installed.
What should I do? I read that the normal Windows 7 (not embedded version) installer allows you to reformat the C drive before re installing. There does not appear to be such an option for Windows embedded.

Try using something like GParted to delete or format the current partitions on the disk.

You may try burning the repair disk at a lower speed, as at times due to a high speed burning the disk is not readable.

Also, the disk that you are creating it is getting corrupted while it is being created. What you may do is, run a System File Checker (SFC) Tool and the try creating a repair disk.
Steps to perform SFC scan:
1. Click the Start button
2. From the Start Menu, Click All Programs followed by Accessories
3. In the Accessories menu, Right Click on the Command Prompt option
4. From the drop down menu that appears, Click on the 'Run as administrator' option
5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked for authorization prior to the command prompt opening. You may simply need to press the Continue button if you are the administrator or insert the administrator password etc.
6. In the Command Prompt window, type: sfc /scannow and then press Enter
7. A message will appear stating that 'The system scan will begin'
8. Be patient because the scan may take some time
9. If any files require replacing, SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Windows 7 for this process to continue
10. If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message 'Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations'
11. After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

Once you have run the scan try creating a repair disk and check if you get the same error when you try to boot.
